An American company is planning to send passengers to space with a high-tech version of a hot air balloon.

CNN channel (USA) on June 24 reported that the Florida-based company Space Perspective is accepting reservations for a flight to the space in early 2024 with a hot air balloon called Spaceship Neptune.  Ticket price per seat is 125,000 USD.

Spaceship Neptune can take 1 pilot and 8 passengers to space in a giant hot air balloon.

Seat deposit will be arranged in the order of whom has the higher upfront payment will have priority to fly first.

According to the program, the 6-hour space tour is expected to take 2 hours at a location 30.40 km above the ground.  It is followed by 2 hours for guests to enjoy the 360-degree view from the cabin.  Spaceship Neptune spent another 2 hours landing.

Space Perspective collaborated with PriestmanGoode (UK) to design Spaceship Neptune.  The passenger compartment has a diameter of 5m, while the polyethylene balloon shell has a diameter of 100m.

Space Perspective insists the whole process will be as simple as taking an airplane.

Spaceship Neptune uses hydrogen to travel high. According to Space Perspective, the air pump inside the balloon is lighter than the air outside, allowing Spaceship Neptune to float in the Earth's atmosphere like a stone floating on water.

The first test flight of the Spaceship Neptune took place on June 18 at the Space Coast spaceport in Titusville, Florida.  Journey 6 hours 39 minutes without passengers.  However, the camera on Spaceship Neptune captured a beautiful "breathless" image of a dawn on Earth.

Space Perspective considers the test flight to be an important milestone on the company's path to making space tourism an entertaining and scenic journey.  Space Perspective also plans to conduct other test flights around the world.

Space Perspective founder Jane Poynter said in 2020: “We are committed to fundamentally changing the way people approach space with the dual goal of practicing essential research that benefits life on Earth as well as impacting the way we see and connect with the planet.”

The first space visitor was billionaire Dennis Tito.  He arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) in April 2001.  Since then, only a few people have followed the path of billionaire Dennis Tito.

The company SpaceX plans to use the Crew Dragon spacecraft by the end of 2021 for a program exclusively for civilians to space with a price of 50 million USD per seat.  In 2019, an American company called the Gateway Foundation announced plans for a hotel project operating in the lower layers of the Earth's atmosphere.
