The Japanese government and this country's space agency will work with food and technology companies to launch a study on developing a sustainable food source on the Moon.

The government-funded project is led by the Space Foodsphere, a Tokyo-based space food research group that includes dozens of participants, including the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, condiment maker Ajinomoto and integrated system data company NTT Data Corp…

Basic research is designed to meet the need to supply products on the Moon for the long-term team here.

The fact that humans can stay on the Moon for a long time will greatly reduce the cost of deep space exploration missions.

The above public-private research group will begin research at a facility in the country, then can move to a place with environmental conditions similar to those on the Moon, such as at the Antarctic.

The research is focused on developing technologies to operate a greenhouse growing facility on the Moon that lacks water and air for plants to grow.

Research also includes ways to maintain human mental and physical health conditions in confined spaces over a long period of time.

In 2019, the scientific community was very excited about the event that the seed sprouted on the Moon, but the joy was not long because the sprout died at night with a temperature of -170oC.
