Like other Scandinavian countries, Sweden has a long-standing culture that underlies a healthy lifestyle, directing people towards goodness and humility.

1. Reticent and straightforward

The Swedes are often mistaken as boring or cold due to their lack of speech, but reticent is a common characteristic  and is seen as the standard of the people here.  Confabulation about trivial topics is considered vain by the Swedes, who have a long-circulated idiom that "talk is silver, silence is gold".  Therefore, they often choose to silence as the solution to avoid unnecessary conflicts.  When communicating, they always go straight to the point, not roundabout, say shirking.

According to the ancients, classy people’words are often slow, not easy to show attitude, not easy to conclude, and cautious from words to actions.  The Swedes seem to have the same opinion in communication and this makes their society not spread sensational and disturbing information, but always peaceful and harmony.

2. Humility

Humility is a common feature of the people of Scandinavian peninsula is defined as a code of conduct called Jante to eliminate bragging and nominal prefered behaviors in any way.  Successful people in any fields, whether fashion, sports, technology, design or medicine ... have the right to be proud of their achievements, but if they make boast of their achievements, they will be considered not so nice.

People make boast because they want to be accepted, respected, noticed, loved, because they lack confidence and are not satisfied with themselves, so they must be filled with admiration borrowed from others.  Moreover, when you show off something proud of yourself, that you are not thinking about others, you may feel sad and sorry for their situation.  Always thinking of others is kindness, so being humble is how you maintain goodness in society.

3. Freedom of ownership

In Sweden, no matter what class you belong to, you are allowed to access, walk, cycle, drive, ski and camp in any areas not belonging to the personal property of others or belonging to arable land, national protected areas and protected areas.  This is the expression of humanity and kindness of the Swedes.

 4. Line up culture

Like many other civilized countries in the world, in Sweden, you can easily see lines of people lined up along restaurants, ticket counters, entertainment areas, supermarkets, Bus or subway waiting stations ... So when you come here if you jostle or push, you will receive unkind eyesights from the people here.

The queuing culture is an expression of a fair and civilized society.  When you line up, you are respecting your rights and the rights of other people.  When everyone follows the order, everything will be easier, faster, and more convenient for everyone involved.  If we come first, we are served first, if we come later, we will be served later.  That is obvious and any jostling, going back door is just for your own benefit without thinking about the benefit of others.  And that is a manifestation of unwholesome, selfish, and greedy minds.

 5. Willingness to help others

Swedes are generally polite, honest, trustworthy and willing to help others.  When you ask for directions, they usually give very detailed directions and if not in a hurry, they are ready to take you where you need to come if the distance is not too far.  There will be rare Swedes who will not stop and ask if you need help if you find yourself carrying a heavy suitcase on the stairs.

Because they think that when you help someone, there will come a time when someone else will come to help you, kindness is to spread, not to show off or brag.

6. Dress simply

Usually, the Swedes dress quite simply, comfortably and without being fussy.  Known for being fashionistas, however, Swedes are also considered to be people wearing identical clothes.  Neutral, not too colorful tones like black, cream, beige, white, navy blue are very popular in Sweden.

The Swedes can also comfortably wear jeans when going to office, except important appointments with foreign clients or at events.  Most public servants in state agencies or even university lecturers, offices ... are not required to dress in uniform or formal.

There is a paradox that most of the poor, underdeveloped countries, prefer to dress nicely and well.  Of course, dressing well and beautiful is a good thing, but if we spend too much effort, money, and time on dressing just out of fear that others will underestimate us, it is a burden and turns ourselves  into a slave to clothes.

The Swedes wear what they feel most comfortable and polite, not to show others and to let others judge their character.  Also because in Sweden, there will never be the kind of backside smile or defamation, mocking one person just for what that person is wearing.

7. Take pride in the smallest things

A-3

While other cities have chased the record of the biggest, tallest, most expensive buildings, Stockholm seems to take pride in the smallest ones.  One of them is a statue of "Jarnpojken" (Iron Boy) at the Finnish church in Gamla Stan's old town.  Although it is just a statue of a boy sitting with a 14 cm high, however when coming here, everyone wants to see the cute figure with their own eyes and leave a few coins in the hope of luck to be coming to them.

In addition, the narrowest street named Marten Trotzigs grand (at some spots there is only 90 cm wide) and the smallest red house in Stockholm are also other famous "tiny" tourist destinations in Sweden.

In this country there are not too many high buildings, people dress very rustic, ride old cars even most of them ride bicycles, or public transport and eat simple food.  The city is always quiet and after 7pm, there is almost no one on the road and there is no "extravagant" life at night, no lavishly high-end services that stimulate people’ negative satisfaction.

This country has proven that, no matter how well-developed society, how rich, and how much conditions are abundant, if people always maintain eternal values of goodness and kindness and humility, then that society will maintain stability and balance.
