Hurricane Ida hit Japan on September 24, 1960 with an initial speed of 321km / h.  However, the storm weakened gradually with winds of only 129km / h after reaching the Honsu island area, Japan.

The storm killed 1,296 people and injured another 1,138, making Ida the third most damaging storm in the country ever recorded, according to Japan's National Institute of Informatics.

The storm engulfed two villages in southeastern Japan and created 1,900 landslides.

2. Hurricane Nina

Hurricane Nina happened in 1975. It made landfall in China, disrupting the Banqiao Dam, resulting in massive floods that left the number of people killed between 171,000 and 229,000.

Hurricane Nina caused 189.5 mm of precipitation per hour.  It quickly became a natural disaster devastating the world's most populous country in just a few days.

3.  Typhoon Tip

Typhoon Tip appeared in 1979 near Micronesia, in the western Pacific.  It has broken every record of size and intensity in history.
