Chanel announced it would not continue using exotic skins in their products in the future. Before the fashion show premieres in the fall of 2019, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Chanel officially announced this.

Chanels future products are not made from exotic skins

Chanel does not want to continue using exotic skins in their products in the future. Exoctic skins include animal skin types such as crocodile, lizard, snake, stingray and fur. Previously, the brand used a few of these types of skin to create unique products.

The use of animal skin to make fashion products violates ethical issues. In addition, the supply is no longer enough for the brand to continue using exoctic skins to create new products.

Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel fashion, says that this is a supplier issue, not a matter of the brand, so stopping animal skin use to make products does not affect their business. They will focus on the selection of new materials to create unique products, materials and leather created by "agri-food" industries.

Chanel takes a long time to replace the new material at the product, so that products made from exotic skins disappear completely on the distribution network of this brand. Chanel is leading the way in stopping the use of exotic skins in their products, along with other brands including Asos, Nike, H & M, Puma, Arcadia Group and L Brands. These brands have previously committed to stop using fur to make products but not to stop using fur. In this campaign, brands will stop using animal skins to create products.
