NASA said on September 14 that these companies will advance the ideas of sustainable human landing systems, carry out risk reduction activities, and follow NASA requirements to enhance industry capacity in crewed Moon landing missions.

If everything goes according to plan, those processes will benefit NASA's Artemis program, which will return the program to the lunar surface within the next few years, as well as establish a sustained human presence on and around the Moon by the end of the decade.
