Outpayce and HSBC Partner to Revolutionize Airline Fare Pricing

Discover how Outpayce and HSBC are teaming up to provide airlines with a solution to price fares in travelers' preferred currency, ensuring a seamless booking experience.

Airlines are constantly looking for ways to enhance the shopping experience for travelers, and one key area of focus is pricing. Currently, many airlines price their products in a default currency, which may not align with the traveler's local or preferred currency. This can lead to a less than optimal shopping experience and may even result in lower purchase rates as travelers navigate away from the airline's website to manually convert currencies.

Outpayce and HSBC Partner to Revolutionize Airline Fare Pricing

Recognizing the importance of offering fares in multiple currencies, more than a third of airlines surveyed by Amadeus have confirmed their plans to implement this feature within the next twelve months. In response to this trend, Outpayce from Amadeus has expanded its offerings by partnering with HSBC to provide competitive foreign exchange (FX) rates to airlines through the FX Box Multi Currency Pricing (MCP) solution.

Japan Airlines has become the first carrier to offer its passengers multi-currency pricing through the Outpayce and HSBC partnership. With access to over 170 different currencies, airlines can now tailor their fares to meet the needs of individual travelers. When customers choose to pay in their own currency, a seamless FX transaction takes place in the background, leveraging HSBC's competitive rates and ensuring full reconciliation with the airline's revenue accounting systems.

This partnership with HSBC brings several benefits to airlines, including an expanded range of real-time FX rates, the ability to define margins for FX services, and control over how multi-currency prices are displayed on their websites and apps. By internalizing FX spreads from cross-border payments, airlines can offer a more transparent and user-friendly booking experience for travelers.

The collaboration between Outpayce and HSBC represents a significant step forward in enhancing the pricing and payment options available to airline customers. By offering multi-currency pricing and competitive FX rates, airlines can improve the overall shopping experience and increase customer satisfaction.
