Saudi Arabia has just revealed a very ambitious plan by building an octagonal port city floating on the Red Sea.

The super city called Oxagon built in Saudi Arabia has a very large area and integrates special amenities and technology. This is the dedicated work of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman to contribute to the kingdom's regional trade.
Although there are no details yet, but according to the official press release, the location of the city will be right at the edge of Neom, a newly established area in the northwest of the kingdom. The newly created area is 33 times the size of New York City.

The floating megacity is at the heart of Neom and a key part of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman's vision to transform the area near the Suez Canal. The Red Sea is one of the busiest trade routes in the world, with 10% of all global trade passing each year. This makes Oxagon's position even more important.
Oxagon will also be an industrial port center that uses robots and AI to operate and strives to achieve net-zero with clean energy supply. However, the press release did not mention the cost to build such a large ambitious project.
The megacity is also part of an ambitious plan to eliminate the kingdom's dependence on oil while turning Saudi Arabia into a Silicon Valley-like tech hub, while combining towns, research centers, educational districts and tourist attractions.
It is expected to be the destination and home for those with big dreams in building new model of exceptional viability, creating thriving businesses and reinventing environmental conservation. Those plans include drone taxis, a Jurassic park-style theme park with robotic dinosaurs and the highest density of Michelin-starred restaurants in the world.
The stunning landscape of the area will also be transformed by the world's largest coral garden, glowing sands and an artificial moon that lights up every night. However, Neom's developers faced some initial setbacks as engineers tried to design a city where the technologies do not yet exist.
