Axiom Space said the flight will take place in January 2022, led by Michael Lopez-Alegria, a former NASA astronaut.

The three-passenger space tour is Larry Connor - a real estate and technology businessman from Ohio, Canadian financier Mark Pathy and Israeli businessman Eytan Stibbe - best friend of Israel's first astronaut, Ilan Ramon.  All three will fly under the guidance of Michael Lopez-Alegria.

The flight uses the SpaceX Dragon space shuttle, which takes off from Cape Canaveral and will take about 1-2 days to reach the International Space Station.  The crew will spend about 8 days here.

It is reported that each of the passengers intends to conduct orbital science research for educational purposes.

Mr. Lopez-Alegria, former space station veteran and head of the space team, called these three passengers "pioneers".

Last year, actor Tom Cruise was predicted to be a potential space passenger, after NASA confirmed the actor was interested in filming at the space station.

However, in the January 26 announcement, there was no information on whether Tom Cruise would be involved in Axiom's subsequent flights.

To participate in this space travel, each passenger must pass health tests and participate in training within 15 weeks.  Mr. Connor, 70, will become the second oldest person to fly into space.  In 1998, Mr. John Glenn flew on the shuttle at the age of 77. Mr. Connor is also the man who will assist Mr. Lopez-Alegria in the cockpit.

Axiom plans to organize 2 private space tours per year.  The company is also preparing to launch its own boarding compartments onto the space station by 2024.

Russia has been in the business of space travel for many years.  They have been selling trips to the International Space Station since 2001.

Other space companies like Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic and Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin also plan quick, affordable space tours that will only last a few minutes.  Each seat in these speed flights will cost about a few hundred thousand dollars.  Their plans are likely to kick off this year.
