In recent times, a rising trend has emerged among young Chinese people, where they have opted to live in cars as a means to save money on housing. The exorbitant cost of renting apartments in major cities has made it increasingly difficult for them to find affordable accommodation. As a result, many have turned to the truck-cum-mobile model, which provides a more economical alternative. These mobile homes are equipped with all the necessary facilities, ranging from kitchens and toilets to even pianos, allowing individuals to have a comfortable living space customized to their preferences.
Such individuals benefiting from this unconventional living arrangement every morning, only needs to take a few steps from bed to desk, as everything they requires is within their mobile home. They feel very free and comfortable living in a car like this. And so, not pressured to buy a house. Prior to residing in their car, they used to spend a significant portion of their monthly income, approximately 2,500 yuan on renting a house. However, since transitioning to the car, they has managed to save up to 75% of their accommodation costs.
For young individuals living in China's bustling cities, the cost of housing can consume up to half of their monthly income. RVs and mobile homes provide a much more affordable option for them to consider. They don't plan to buy a house, and can't actually afford it. If they have enough money to buy a house, it may be thanks to the support of their family. Instead of trying to bear this expense, they invest in buying a car that fits their budget. This sentiment is shared by many who find the idea of purchasing a traditional home out of reach.
The price of houses in Shenzhen is unbelievably expensive. The cost of used apartments in China's major cities remains astonishingly high, with every square meter still costing nine times more than the average monthly salary of workers. This economic burden compels individuals to explore alternative housing options and make the most of their financial resources.
As we witness this growing phenomenon, it is noteworthy that the flexibility and cost savings associated with truck-cum-mobile homes (RVs) have been a familiar housing model in Western countries for some time now. With this newfound popularity among young Chinese individuals, it is clear that an increasing number of people are embracing this unique way of life. These mobile homes provide the freedom to relocate easily, making it an attractive option for those seeking a change of scenery or a more affordable living arrangement. Moreover, the savings achieved by living in mobile homes allow individuals to allocate funds towards other financial goals, such as starting a family or investing in additional assets.
The trend of young Chinese people living in cars to save money on housing has caught the attention of many. With soaring rent prices in major cities across the country, individuals are finding it increasingly challenging to secure affordable and suitable accommodation. The adoption of the truck-cum-mobile homes model allows for both cost savings and a personalized living space.
