Bank of Spain Grants Amadeus' Outpayce EMI Licence
The Bank of Spain has granted Amadeus' Outpayce an EMI licence, allowing the provision of regulated payment services. Learn more about this significant development.
Outpayce, the travel payments business of Spanish IT group Amadeus, has recently been granted an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license by the Bank of Spain. This milestone allows Outpayce to offer regulated payment services, including accepting customer funds, issuing pre-paid debit cards, and facilitating money transfers between payment accounts. With this license in hand, Outpayce plans to expand its services across the European Union.
Outpayce has announced that it will soon enable the use of Outpayce-issued pre-paid virtual cards within corporate self-booking tools and travel agency booking systems. This will allow users to make payments to providers such as airlines and hotels with ease. Since its launch last year, Outpayce has been providing payment solutions to assist travel merchants in making B2B payments to airlines and hotels. The company prides itself on offering a wide range of payment methods, including card and local payment options, through various channels such as mobile, call centers, websites, and physical touchpoints like check-in desks.
Obtaining obtaining the EMI license from the Bank of Spain marks a significant achievement for Outpayce, as it positions the fintech company to further expand its payment services and reach a broader customer base across the EU.
