MAD architects plan to transform tour Montparnasse in Paris into a city-scale mirror
The design of MAD uses concave principles in order to make a dramatic illusion. By placing every glass panel at specific angles, this building can become a city-scale mirror. Besides, the streets and the neighboring buildings’ rooftops are present as if they are still hanging in the sky; at the same time, the sky will be reflected onto the lower part of the building.
When the building was built, montparnasse tower represented the achievements and the pride of its era. It is its worship of power and technology that has made this tyrannical monument. Nowadays, we cannot really demolish this historical regrets and building it stands for, yet we can create a new perspective to think about how we can interact with the tower as well as its environment in order to bring its meanings to our hearts.
In 2017, nouvelle AOM, which is one of three French firms, was selected to complete this building project. About €300 million, financed by the co-owners of the building, is set in order to complete for the Olympic game in
